Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) has security checkpoints in Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5, each with its own operating schedule. Wait times range from 9 to 30 minutes, depending on passenger volume and time of day. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) wait times are also influenced by the volume of foreign arrivals and processing activity.
For security screening, customs clearance when applicable, and travel to their departure gates, travelers should allow enough time. Those who meet the requirements can use TSA PreCheck or CLEAR+ for expedited screening options.

CLEAR at ORD Airport to Save Time at Security
At designated security checkpoints at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, eligible passengers can use CLEAR+ for identity verification. The service uses biometric technology, including facial recognition, to verify members’ identities.
CLEAR+ does not replace TSA security screening. Passengers must still complete the required screening procedures, and use of the service requires a paid membership. Lane availability and operating hours vary by terminal.
The table below lists the CLEAR+ operating hours provided for ORD.
